It's unpleasant, but it happens to the best of them—although I'm far from this group. Summer is approaching its end and I've been so busy taking pictures that I've lost track of time. Initially, I intended to write for the rest of the summer, and I have sketched out some stories a little, but I've been running around Stanly County snapping photos nearly every day for the past week. This also means my blog has suffered. My new obsession checks this lapse, however: flickr. I signed up for flickr a year ago but just recently began using it. I can't speak too many good words about this service. If you enjoy photography in the least, you owe yourself a look.
As for my own picture-taking, I like to say that I've simply been "playing around" because, to be honest, I don't even know that much about the technicalities of the camera or spatial ratios and shadow paths, or whatever else the hardcore emotography waifs blather about. I just find or create scenes my eyes enjoy. For instance, I love nature scenes, especially rural photos and up close or macro shots of small things like insects and plant life.
And very recently I've taken an interest in still life photography. You know, those paintings of fruit and books—pictures of things collected, without people or animals—that's still life. I think I'm starting to enjoy this type of photography because it shows the results of human activity—aftermath, abandon, waste, leftovers. It leaves a lot to imagination, and that's why I like it.
I know my pictures aren't much, but I greatly enjoy it. More can be viewed here, where I update regularly.

Lindsey is right. Your photos are exceptional. Acknowledge that, and they will take you places. Don't waste this talent on a self doubting man! Good luck.
