Justin, Josh, and I went to Concord Mills today to see X-Men (7/10). We also ate there. I'm too lazy to write any details but I'll probably wish I had later.

As for the movie, it was nice to finally see our superheroes on screen. I gave it 7 because even though it was decently presented, there were personal disappointments. It would've been nice to see them in their individual uniforms, maybe that will come later. I also wish they had more closely followed the storylines of the comics. There are all sorts of things that are incorrect in the movie if you go by the X-Men "canon," like the fact that Rogue had her powers prior to joining the X-Men (and had been an enemy, too). It's all right, though; like different branches of comics, the movies are their own entity with a unique story and take on things.

We saw Scary Movie (5/10) last night. It was very stupid.

I haven't written down much of anything all summer. So, I'll summarize. I went to the orientation at State. Saw Andrew and his mom. He said, "There's Hathcock." The way he said it was odd. It was in that voice teenagers use when they're in the presence of both guardian and friend—that innocent voice with a hint of rebellion on the verge of being. Or something. Anyway, my Dad and I walked around, met with some lady about classes, walked around, went on some bus tour thing, walked around, went into several different buildings, and walked around. On the drive home I came to the disappointing realization that I might not want to go. I wasn't sure, but I had a strange feeling. Later I learned that we weren't going to be able to pull off the money part of it anyway. So, I'm going to go to Stanly for a while.

Josh, Nathan, and I hung out a little this summer. We drove to Concord Mills a couple times. Justin and Koa went along on the first trip. Josh rode with me and they took a separate car. We almost got lost one time, but other than that we made it there and back fine. We went to see X-Men there because the theater in that mall is 100x better than the crappy one we have in Albemarle. They were giving out a free X-Men card with every ticket.

We all started hanging out some after Bible School. I still go to Bible School, but I stay outside the entire time helping James with recreations. It's a blast. Making 5-year-olds laugh is pretty easy.

All I've been listening to this summer is the first CD of Metallica's S&M. I got Nathan and Josh into them, also. In fact, Josh ended up buying a Metallica shirt and sticker on one of our trips to Concord Mills. That reminds me: One night Josh, Nathan, and I were riding around in my car. We were being very stupid. Among little things like hitting a Cadillac's windshield with a huge wad of gum and flying over dips in the road, we almost died at the intersection in front of the VFW hut. We were going way too fast for that little road and we didn't see the stop sign. I braked just in time. As we stopped, a car flew by in front of the us. If I hadn't stopped, we would have probably all died. We were incredibly stupid that night.
